Abu Simbel Temples

The Abu Simbel Temples are a magnificent testament to ancient Egyptian engineering and artistry. Located in southern Egypt near the border with Sudan, these temples were carved out of a mountainside during the reign of Ramses II. The larger temple, dedicated to Ramses II himself, features four colossal statues at its entrance. The smaller temple honors his wife Nefertari and is equally impressive. The temples are known for their remarkable preservation and the stunning spectacle of the sun aligning with the entrance twice a year, illuminating the inner sanctuary.
